Restoration

Vintage and heirloom items that have yellowed or collected dust require hand-soaking and a custom cleaning process to return them to top condition. With over 100 years of expertise, we’ve perfected the painstaking methods of reviving your treasured legacy pieces.

Preservation

At Peninou, we use the same heirloom preservation process as the Smithsonian Museum. After careful cleaning, we store your item in an acid-free Heirloom Preservation Storage Box with acid-free tissue and a cotton muslin liner. Museum conservators expect this process to extend textile life by up to 200 years, preserving your special memories for generations.

Ask us about maintaining christening dresses, uniforms and other keepsakes.

Reweaving

The lost art of repairing
fine woven fabrics

Handbags

It’s sometime the small things that make big fashion statements. Accessories such as scarves, shawls, and handbags allow women to add their unique taste and personal lifestyle to an outfit. These essential additions to a wardrobe must appeal to more than the eyes. The softest and finest silks and wools are sought after by designers for their creations, and the right piece can make an outfit louder or more reserved.

Fine accessories, whether leather or textile, can represent a major investment. Stain removal and cleaning of these items is accomplished completely by hand.
